Projekt rozpoczął się w 2023 roku i będzie trwał 3 lata. Partnerem projektu jest Polskie Stowarzyszenie Diabetyków.

In 2024, Polish Diabetes Association created, translated, printed and sent out project leaflets to the consortium partners in the amount of, in particular languages: Polish 5 500, Ukrainian 1 000, Italian 3 000, English 10 000.
Polish Diabetes Association distributed the leaflets at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Congress in Madrid (September 9-13, 2024), in English. Polish Diabetes Association broadcasted project announcements on public transport in Łódź, Poland in July 2024. 75 A3 framed posters were placed in 50 trams and in 25 buses, as well as at bus shelters.

Polish Diabetes Association held national World Diabetes Day celebrations on November 23rd, 2024, which took place in Stargard, north-west Poland. We put project leaflets into the conference bags for every participant. About 300 people (patients, their families and caregivers) were present at the event. On February 19th 2025, an educational meeting was held for diabetes community leaders of the local branch of the Polish Diabetes Association in Łódź. The meeting was attended by around 40 people.
Participants had the opportunity to receive information about the Provide project, which was given to them by the president of the Polish Diabetes Association Monika Kaczmarek. They were very much interested in the works and hopeful about the project findings and conclusions.
On April 7-10, 2025 representatives of the Polish Diabetes Association participated in the International Diabetes Federation World Diabetes Congress, which is the biggest diabetes conference in the world. The congress took place in Bangkok, Thailand and gathered ca. 6 500 participants.
Polish representatives distributed project leaflets and also printed them out in the form of posters, which decorated the Polish booth at the Global Village of diabetes associations.

Results and impact
Thanks to the work of the Polish Diabetes Association, the project has become known both among patients and doctors.
Patients who have learnt about the project are diabetes patients, members of the Polish Diabetes Association, during face-to-face meetings, as well as non-members, readers of the PDA electronic media. Also their families and caregivers, who want and need to expand their knowledge on diabetes and its treatment. These also include heart patients who have diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Doctors who have learnt about the project are diabetologists and family doctors, mostly those who attended the conferences described in the section 'Work performed and main achievements’. Some of those doctors were also cardiologists.
The impact of the actions that were taken so far is health promotion, as well as increasing diabetes (itself) and diabetes complications awareness. Also, the audience has been made aware of the ongoing project and its possible outcomes, which may bring improvements in the lives and treatment of diabetics.
The patients and their families feel better taken care of when they know that there are such projects as PROVIDE going on, and that doctors and scientists want to help them. This is very important, considering the mental burden of the disease.
Acitivities from June 2025
On June 7, 2025, the National Diabetes Day Celebrations took place in Września. The Polish Diabetes Association celebrates Diabetes Day annually in June, commemorating World Diabetes Day, which previously fell in that month and was later moved to November 14.
The gala took place in the Platinum Hall of the SZIM Medical University in Września. Over 200 diabetics from across the country participated in the celebration. In addition to diabetics, the ceremony was also attended by representatives of local government authorities. The gala was hosted by medical journalist Aleksandra Zalewska-Sienkiewicz.
The event was held under the patronage of the Mayor of Nekla and the Provincial Consultant in Diabetology, Dr. Andrzej Gawrecki, MD. Each participant of the Diabetes Day celebration received a welcome bag with attractive materials for diabetics, had the opportunity to check their random blood glucose level and have their eyes examined for retinopathy.
Participants had also the opportunity to receive information about the Provide project, which was given to them by the president of the Polish Diabetes Association Monika Kaczmarek.
We would like to remind you that last Saturday, June 28, 2025, we distributed project flyers among 120 diabetes patients present at the celebrations of Diabetic Day and the 35th anniversary of the Polish Diabetic Association Circle in Drzewica. The conference was organized by the Polish Diabetic Association in Drzewica. Attached is a photo of the materials.

In April 2026, during the 7th Leaders’ Forum of the Polish Diabetes Association, an international advocacy workshop entitled „Engaging People with Type 2 Diabetes – From Experience to Action” was successfully held. The event, organized by the Polish Diabetes Association in close collaboration with IDF Europe, marked an important step towards amplifying the voices of people living with type 2 diabetes and promoting genuine patient involvement in national and European discussions on healthcare.
The workshops were part of the broader program of the 7th Leaders’ Forum – one of the most important annual meetings of patient leaders and diabetes activists in Poland, attended by approximately 200 people from across the country. Hosting the workshops as part of such a significant event created a valuable space for dialogue, increased visibility of the initiative, and collaboration between various groups. This allowed the topics discussed during the workshops to resonate more broadly and become part of the important debate ongoing in the Polish diabetes community.

On 20 June 2026, representatives of the Polish Diabetes Association participated in the National Diabetic Day Celebrations, combined with the 45th Anniversary of the Polish Diabetes Association, held in Złotoryja, Poland.
The event brought together around 300 participants from across Poland, including members of the diabetes community, healthcare professionals, and invited guests. As part of the dissemination activities of the PROVIDE project, project leaflets were included in the participants’ conference packs. In addition, cardiovascular health and cardiovascular risk in people with diabetes were highlighted during one of the educational sessions, further supporting the project’s objective of raising awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention.
